Alan Congdon Memorial Ride
July 2nd 2008 -
Sponsored Fancy Dress Ride.
2008 was a banner year for Hillview's
ongoing charitable efforts and we hope
to continue our success into 2009.
We would like to offer our heartfelt
thanks to all those who made our 2008
charity ride such a fantastic success.
The event raised £5000, which enabled us
to give £2500 each to our chosen
charities, Breast Cancer Care and the
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The ride itself was a great deal of fun,
with around 20 entrants in a variety of
weird and wonderful costumes, ranging
from mermaid to showgirl, dark knight to
teddy bears picnic!
A fun day was had by all, preparing the
horses and their costumes.
Events began at Hillview with the
judging of the adult and child
categories, the ride itself then set
off, touring Crewkerne before returning
to Hillview to start the evenings
festivities.
A huge thank you to all that helped
during the ride, we were lucky enough to
have many street collectors that helped
towards our fantastic final total.
The evening itself was a massive
success, the auction raised a
significant chunk of our total amount,
as did the raffle.
Another massive thank you goes out to
all the companies and concerns who
donated prizes, we were lucky to have
big names supporting us, such as Joules,
Breyer, Regatta, Dodson and Horrell,
Heather Moffatt and countless others,
including our local saddlery shop Henry
Bowers.
A full list of all our wonderful
sponsors can be found below, as
well as photos of the day.
Refreshments for the evening were
handled by our fantastic outside bar and
caterers, so another big thank you to
the people who worked so hard to feed
and water the people who turned out to
support us!
Entertainment for the evening began with
the absolutely fantastic Elvis Presley
impersonator, Barry Paull.
Belting out hits to delight young and
old, Barry really gave his all for the
event, thanks Barry!
The nights entertainment was rounded off
with a performance by local group
Martha's Vineyard so a big thanks to
them too.
For 2009, we're supporting World Horse
Welfare, formerly known as ILPH
(Registered Charity 206658).
We will be holding our very own Horse
Show at Hillview on May 4th 2009, and
hope to raise another fantastic total
for this very worthy cause.
For more information on World Horse
Welfare check out their excellent
website at

Many thanks again to all those who've
supported us in the past, and we hope
you continue to support us in our
charitable efforts throughout 2009.
